1. Global Village Invites Registrations For F&B Stalls

Global Village has finally opened the F&B registrations for Season 31st. So, if you are someone who owns a restaurant or has a new concept that you want to set up, you can submit the applications until August 18th. If you wish to open a restaurant or coffee shop or if you want to open a kiosk or a food trolley, the application is open until August 26th.

2. Riyadh Recognised As One Of The Best Cities To Live In

Riyadh just entered the Global Quality of Life Index, and this means that it is now internationally recognised as one of the most livable modern cities in the world. With there being world-class infrastructure, safety and healthcare, the Saudi capital is truly setting new standards for living.

3. Oman Introduces Two-Month Ban On Kingfish Fishing & Trade

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources has announced a two-month ban on fishing, possessing or trading kingfish. This is across all the coastal areas of Oman, and the ban takes effect on August 15th. It will remain in force until October 15th. Individuals and companies already possessing quantities of kingfish will have to register the stocks with competent authorities, and this must be in accordance with the procedures.

4. King Abdulaziz Public Library Sees Cultural Artistic Celebration

On the occasion of World Calligraphy Day, the King Abdulaziz Public Library, which is in Riyadh, witnessed renewed artistic and intellectual activity. This celebrates Arabic calligraphy and its aesthetics through several diverse activities and events. For those who were aware, World Calligraphy Day falls on the second Wednesday of August each year. The library has previously hosted several exhibitions that showcase the beauty of Arabic calligraphy and language.

5. flydubai To Host Its UAE National Careers Open Day On August 16th

flydubai, which is a low-cost airline from Dubai, has announced that it will be hosting its UAE national careers open day on August 16th. This will be at the flydubai campus. So, UAE nationals have been invited to explore rewarding careers with one of the fastest-growing airlines in the region.

6. Etihad Airways To Offer Up To 20% Off Global Destinations

For Independence Day, Etihad Airways is allowing Indian traveller to plan their travel into reality, as they could save up to 20% on Business and Economy fares. This offer is available up to August 15th, and the special fare is valid on travel between September 1st and March 31st, 2027.

7. Airlink And Qatar Airways Deep In Their Partnership

Qatar Airways took to X to announce how it has deepened its partnership with Airlink. Yes, this is with the codeshare agreement expansion. The privately owned South Africa-based airline added it as its first long-haul destination from August 31st, 2026.

8. Umrah Pilgrims Urged To Plan Ahead

The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque have asked Umrah pilgrims to plan ahead. They’ve been asked to identify peak times in order to facilitate a smooth movement. This would allow them to perform rituals at Mataf and Masaa.

9. Saudi Riyadh To Serve Tokyo With Three Direct Flights

Saudia has announced that from November 17th onwards, it will be serving Tokyo with three direct flights. This is brilliant news as Tokyo is one of the most popular Japanese destinations and tickets start at SAR2,682. For those unaware, Tokyo is a brilliant cultural city with vibrant streets and culture that will draw travellers in the moment they land.

10. Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre’s Support For Sustainable Reaches Over 62,000

Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre’s campaign, which supports sustainable reading, has benefited over 62,000 people across the UAE. This is through its community campaign, and the figures are for the first half of 2026. This marks a significant milestone in the second cycle of the campaign. The campaign encourages reading as a lifelong habit and strengthens the presence of the Arabic language.
