1. Edge Creekside Hotel Is Now Jannah Dubai Creek Hotel
Jannah Hotels & Resorts has brought the 138-room Edge Creekside Hotel under its own brand, renaming it Jannah Dubai Creek Hotel. It’s now part of a wider portfolio alignment. Set along Dubai Creek with skyline views, the property caters to business travellers, families and extended stays, with select suites offering full kitchens. Mark Whitlock, Managing Director of Jannah Hotels & Resorts, called it a natural fit for the group. Guests can expect selected touchpoints and facilities upgraded to Jannah’s brand standards, alongside existing leisure amenities like the spa, pool, jacuzzi and steam room.

3. Qatar Reminds Drivers To Turn On The Lights After Dark Or Pay Up

Qatar’s Ministry of Interior has reissued a reminder that driving at night without headlights is a violation under Article 70 of the Traffic Law. Vehicles must use lights between sunset and sunrise and during poor daytime visibility. Under Article 95, penalties for the offence range from a week to a year in prison or a fine between QR 3,000 and QR 10,000, so it’s worth double-checking those headlights before setting off after dark.
4. UAE Rolls Out Music Licensing Fees From December
Restaurants, cafés, hotels, malls, gyms and airlines across the UAE will need to comply with a new music licensing framework from December 2026, under Ministerial Resolution No. 136 of 2026. The Collective Management Guide for Music also covers floating hotels, radio, TV and live events. Fees will vary by business size and type of music use, though exact figures haven’t been published yet. Emirates Music Rights Association and Music Nation will handle collection, with licences issued annually. Schools and non-commercial charitable events are exempt.

5. John Cena Is Coming To Abu Dhabi
WWE legend and Hollywood star John Cena is set to headline Middle East Film & Comic Con 2026, appearing at ADNEC Centre, Abu Dhabi, on September 12 and 13.
