Latin America has now welcomed its first-ever Lord Ganesha idol. It was recently consecrated during a Pran Pratishtha ceremony at Centro Cultural Vishva Vidya in Petrópolis, Brazil. According to The Times of India, the beautiful ceremony was attended by the Indian ambassador to Brazil, Dinesh Bhatia, along with Brazilian teacher Jonas Masetti. The images of the idol were posted by the official X account of India in Brazil.
Many devotees gathered for the ceremony, which saw Vedic chants, prayers, and celebrations to properly establish the deity at the place. Plus, the move also marked a significant and impactful milestone for the Hindu community in the region. Known as the remover of obstacles, the lord of wisdom, and the deity of auspicious beginnings, Lord Ganesha has devotees across the world.

Why This Moment Is Significant For Hindus In South America
According to The Times of India, there are around 300,000 to 400,000 Hindus in South America. A majority of them live in Guyana and Suriname, where they form a major minority group, and this moment is being considered quite significant for them. The idol was placed by Jonas Masetti, who is also known as Vishvanatha. He is a Brazilian teacher of Advaita Vedanta, Sanskrit, and Yoga. Plus, he is also a direct disciple of Swami Dayananda Saraswati.
