Bus Catches Fire On Jaipur-Delhi Highway

A private sleeper bus, carrying around 60 passengers, caught fire after it hit a live high tension wire on the Jaipur Delhi Highway on Tuesday. According to The Statesman, the bus was coming from Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh and was carrying groups of labourers, when the bus suddenly set ablaze near Manoharpura-Shahpur area.

The bus was overcrowded and the incident caused panic among passengers. Many of them jumped off through windows and saved themselves from severe injuries. However, two people lost their lives, while several sustained burns and even suffered injuries due to electric current.

The injured were taken to a nearby Shahpura Government Hospital for treatment, and authorities have launched an investigation into the accident. Reports suggest that the passengers were travelling with household items, including LPG cylinders and stoves. Due to rain showers, the luggage on top of the bus was soaked and when it came in contact with the live wires, it triggered a fire.
