Egypt is trying to make the Hajj trip a little less stressful this year. The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has rolled out a new digital platform called Rafeeq for pilgrims travelling through tourism companies during Hajj 1447H/2026. The app is mainly for Egyptian pilgrims but also for tourism companies and the official Hajj mission teams handling operations on the ground. And honestly, with thousands of people travelling at once, it probably makes sense to have everything in one place instead of ten different WhatsApp groups and paper files.
Egypt Launches ‘Rafeeq’ App To Help Hajj Pilgrims Stay Connected During Journey
The ministry said around 40,713 pilgrims using tourism companies are expected to benefit from the platform this season.
One of the bigger things here is communication. Pilgrims can use the app to contact their tourism company directly, send complaints, ask for help, and even report health emergencies while travelling.
Pilgrims can report issues directly from the app
Also, there’s a live tracking feature for complaints, which means people can actually follow what’s happening instead of wondering if anyone saw their issue. For many families, that may bring some peace of mind. Hajj trips can get hectic very quickly, especially for elderly travellers.
The platform also includes religious guidance and awareness material in Arabic. Pilgrims can check fatwas, request services linked to travel cards and luggage, and rate the services they receive during the trip.
That said, the government is clearly also using the platform to tighten monitoring and organisation during the pilgrimage season.
Tourism Companies And Officials Will Use It, Too
The app is not only for pilgrims carrying smartphones around Makkah.
Tourism company supervisors can use it to respond to complaints and sort out problems faster. Meanwhile, official mission teams can monitor how companies are handling pilgrims, check whether programmes are being followed properly, and send daily reports backed by real-time information.
Basically, everyone involved in the process is connected through the same system now.
The ministry says this should help improve emergency coordination and make field supervision easier during Hajj operations. It also creates a digital record of complaints and services, which could help later if any disputes come up.
But it’s also pretty clear the authorities want pilgrims registered before they even leave Egypt. The ministry urged all tourism pilgrims to download the app and complete registration ahead of departure.

The App Is Free And Available Now
Google Play users can download Rafeeq on Android, while iPhone users can get it through the App Store. The app is free to use and currently available in Arabic. Whether pilgrims find it genuinely helpful once the crowds build up, though, will probably become clear during the season itself.
