Bandra just got its first dedicated French toast and coffee bar, ROST and it’s asking the one question breakfast menus have ignored for decades: “why should French toast clock out after 11am?” ROST, founded by Param Arora and Abhishek Chaurasia, with the menu shaped by MasterChef India finalist and Development Chef Karishma Sakhrani, builds its entire identity around handcrafted brioche, treating it less like a base and more like a canvas.

The result is a menu that swings from Bandra Benedict to Butter Chicken French Toast to Bombay Cutting Chai French Toast, alongside brioche sandwiches, Truffle Espuma fries and açai bowls. It’s proof that one dish, done properly, can carry a full day of eating.

The 450 sq. ft. space, designed by Janhvi Multani and Ayaan Multani of Studio arQ, matches the ambition of the menu. Raw textured walls, concrete-style seating and a pink-to-orange gradient façade give it a brutalist-meets-sunset look. We went in to find out if the food backs up the design, starting with the dish everyone in the room seemed to be talking about.

What We Ate

The Nepo Baby earns its cheeky name. Butter-toasted button mushrooms hit first, followed by crispy shallots and golden fried garlic for texture, with Parmesan folding in a light, savoury cheesiness. A scattering of arugula cuts through the richness with a touch of bitterness, and everything sits on brioche so soft it practically dissolves, with freshly cracked pepper and flaky salt tying the whole plate together on the last bite.

The Truffle Parm plays it more familiar but no less indulgent. Picture crunchy fries under a generous truffle mist and a silky, frothy Parmesan espuma. The truffle flavour runs heavy throughout, with chives adding a herby cut through the cheese.

The Tokyo Drift Sando is brioche toasted until properly crisp, with a soy sauce drizzle that leans assertively salty. The Kewpie mayo and sesame help balance it out.

One dish we didn’t get to taste was the Carrot Cake toast, which sold out before we could order it. Judging by the table chatter around us, that’s reason enough to go back.

What We Sipped

The Brown Butter Flat White is the sleeper hit of the menu. It’s coffee upfront, then a wash of browned butter richness with a faint salinity that gives it a velvety, almost dessert-like finish.

The Coco Blanc was a fancy cold brew topped with chocolate mousse and chocolate flakes, balancing dense, creamy sweetness against the brew’s natural bitterness for something that reads more indulgent than your average iced coffee.

The Verdict

At ₹1,600 for two, ROST isn’t positioning itself as an everyday pit stop, but the pricing tracks with the craft on the plate.  As mentioned before, brioche here is treated as a genuine culinary canvas, not a breakfast afterthought. On food, the Nepo Baby and Truffle Parm are the standouts; on drinks, the Brown Butter Flat White is worth the visit on its own.
