In the photograph, the late industrialist sat cross-legged on a charpoy. And relished his humble meal. The roadside eatery served simple Indian food on steel cutlery. Despite being a wealthy individual, Mistry was known for his down-to-earth demeanour.

The former Tata Sons Chairman enjoyed going on road trips. Instead of air travel. He also adored Maharashtrian street food like vada pav and pav bhaji. His friend and former bureaucrat Ganesh Jagtap, revealed Mistry’s food and travel preferences to The Week. Jagtap and Cyrus Mistry often headed on road trips. They travelled across Maharashtra and Gujarat. During their getaways, they relished food at roadside eateries. What’s more? They bonded over chai. While Cyrus Mistry is no longer with us.
