Cyrus Mistry, the former Tata Sons Chairperson, died in a tragic road accident while travelling from Ahmedabad to Mumbai. The whole country, even PM Modi took to Twitter to express his condolences on his death. Reports emerged on the media quoting that none of the passengers in the car were wearing a seatbelt. Following this narrative, industrialist Anand Mahindra took to Twitter and pledged to wear a seatbelt while in the back seat. Here’s all wrote after Cyrus Mistry’s tragic accident –

How many of us are really wearing a seatbelt while in the rear seat of the car. In a poll, conducted by Inshorts app, it showed a relatively high number of people did not wear a seatbelt while sitting on the back of a car. Anand Mahindra, reacting to Cyrus Mistry’s accident and sudden demise wrote, ‘I resolve to always wear my seat belt even when in the rear seat of the car. And I urge all of you to take that pledge too. We all owe it to our families.’

Netizens Take On Wearing Seatbelts In The Rear Seat

The death of Cyrus Mistry did spark a conversation on road safety and the importance of wearing a seat belt even while sitting on the back. Reacting to Anand Mahindra’s pledge to always wear a seat belt, many netizens quickly responded saying all cars must have a siren indicating one is wearing a seatbelt or not. A user even said that in Europe everyone wears a seatbelt while travelling and it is in India that the law is either not there or not followed/enforced.
