Be ready to see huge advertising boards at boarding gates at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai. An Instagram user recently noticed this at the airport and mentioned that he did not know that it was possible. The video has now gone viral and has prompted mixed reactions from netizens.

Airports sell advertising space to generate revenue that helps fund operations, and it seems like Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport is now doing the same. A digital creator, Ansh Mehra(@anshmehra.in), recently uploaded a video on Instagram which showed a huge Hershey’s advertisement at Gate 78 in the International Departures terminal. The setup included a bright red-coloured arch with Hershey’s written on the top.

Ansh Mehra also mentioned that Boarding Gate 1, which is used by celebrities, also had advertising on it. He called it “insane” and mentioned that he did not know that it was possible. The text on the video read, “Mumbai Airport has started to sell boarding gates as AD space.”

Netizens React To The Viral Video 

According to Media4Growth, the Hershey’s brand activation is being called India’s first branded boarding gate. Naturally, netizens had their own opinions too regarding the advertisements at the boarding gates of Mumbai Airport. One user wrote, “This looks so cool,” while another mentioned, “Well, it’s a privately run airport, so they can monetise.” Another comment under the video read, “Genius idea, even chairs are shaped like Hershey’s chocolates.”

Some users also made funny remarks and wrote comments like, “They can do it on boarding pass also in some time,” and “Waiting for Vimal gate.” Many people called it a good idea for revenue generation, while some of them mentioned that soon the walls and ceilings will also be covered with advertisements.
