Dead Rat In Food Causes Outrage

As reported by The Free Press Journal, Jyoti Konde, owner of a salon in Airoli Sector 8, visited the restaurant along with her friends on March 8 to celebrate Women’s Day. They were surprised to get a dead pup rat on one of the plates while she was eating Manchurian.

Aghast and shocked, the group confronted the restaurant manager immediately. They stated, however, that he initially dismissed their accusations. The women questioned him further, and he supposedly apologised, but they took matters into their own hands.

Not only did the rat in the food stun them, but upon closer look, the kitchen of the restaurant was also very dirty. The women clicked images and videos of the spoilt food and the untidy kitchen and submitted them later to the Rabale Police.

The police, together with FDA authorities, raided the restaurant. A case was filed against the staff, manager, and owner. The investigation is in progress, and strict action is likely to be taken by the authorities.

The case has been filed under Section 125 of the BNS, which punishes acts of negligence that put human life at risk. The FDA is now engaged in assessing the degree of violations of hygiene and possible dangers from the restaurant.

This shocking case has evoked widespread outrage over food safety norms at restaurants. Consumers are now demanding that authorities conduct periodic inspections to avoid such ghastly cases in the future.
