Delhi-B’lore IndiGo Flight Engine Catches Fire, Airline Says, “Regret The Inconvenience Caused”

On Friday, October 28, 2022, at the Delhi IGI airport, an IndiGo plane declared an emergency after one of its engines caught fire. According to reports, this all happened at the time of taxiing. The incident occurred around 10 pm.

The Engine Went Up In Flames, And IndiGo ‘Regrets The Inconvenience’

An A320 plane bound for Bangalore with 177 people on board later returned to the bay. Sources said people were safely disembarked. If reports are to be believed, then a SpiceJet pilot lined up behind a taxiing IndiGo warned air traffic controllers about the IndiGo engine.

Priyanka Kumar, a Twitter user posted this video that showed sparking in one of the plane’s engines which looked scary. She captioned it, “This was going to be a regular take-off video but then this happened.” After a while, IndiGo apologised to the user saying “Ma’am we apologize for the inconvenience. During the take-off roll, the flight experienced an engine stall.”

After Priyanka, several other users also shared this video on Twitter, saying “What a scary experience”.

Inconvenience? Well, passengers and those who witnessed it will agree it was more than just an inconvenience. It was life-threatening.

Here’s How DGCA Reacted After IndiGo Plane Caught Fire

After the Bengaluru-bound IndiGo plane aborted emergency takeoff at Delhi airport, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has ordered a report to be filed with authorities. They will dive deep into this matter, in order to identify what went wrong and whether something like this has occurred before also or not.

If sources are to be believed, then the operating flight 6E-2131 from Delhi to Bangalore was alarmed only about the engine failure. A loud explosion was heard and the fire extinguishers were also discharged.
