The public health department of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) House notified the House in writing on Tuesday in answer to a question posed by councillors that the city has recorded 3,013 dengue cases so far this year. As more and more cases are being heard of around the country, here’s what you can do to protect yourself and your family from this fever.
Delhi Faces Dengue Outbreak
According to official data given by the MCD in the House on Tuesday, more than 3,000 cases of dengue and one death have been reported in the national capital during the past six months.
This makes it the biggest dengue outbreak since 2015. In an unprecedented uptick caused by a particularly virulent strain of the disease that spread throughout the city, Delhi recorded 15,867 cases and 60 fatalities that year.
However, for seven weeks up until Tuesday, the intensity of this outbreak was concealed since local authorities withheld dengue data from the public because of the G20 Summit.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) also mentioned in a written answer that the number of cases registered in September was the highest in the last four years. (As per NDTV)
