A flight from Bhubaneswar to Delhi made an emergency landing at Bhubaneshwar’s Biju Patnaik International Airport. Additionally, the state witnessed lightning for 2 hours and several were injured. Here are the details of the two incidents that occurred in Odisha.
Delhi-bound IndiGo Flight Made An Emergency Landing At Bhubaneswar
On Monday, an Indigo flight (6E 2065) travelling from Bhubaneswar to New Delhi had to make an emergency landing at the Biju Patnaik International Airport. After the flight left the Bhubaneswar airport, the airport management declared an emergency. No one was hurt during the flight’s landing, according to the BPIA director. The issue was discovered shortly after takeoff from the airport, or roughly 25 minutes later.
According to BPIA Director Prasanna Pradhan, the Delhi-bound IndiGo flight made the emergency landing at the airport at 8.20 am after the detection of technical problems mid-air. He continued by stating that a full-scale emergency was declared, and the aircraft safely landed at the airport.
The source stated they suspected that the technical issue was caused by a bird hit adding that the aircraft can only take to the skies again after receiving clearance from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. Shortly after takeoff, the pilot informed the passengers about the technical problem, and the aircraft made the landing at the Bhubaneswar airport safely.

Odisha Witnessed Lightning For 2 Hours!
On Saturday, Odisha had a record 61,000 lightning strikes in less than two hours, leaving 12 people dead and 14 injured, according to Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Satyabrata Sahu. The India Meteorology Department (IMD) has warned of harsh weather in the state through September 7, thus these strikes might not be over by then.
A low-pressure system could develop from a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal within the next 48 hours. IMD predicts that later in the week, the rain will become more intense. They further stated that a yellow warning for heavy rainfall has been issued in most districts until September 7.
According to the SRC, the Saturday lightning strikes claimed the lives of one person each from Dhenkanal, Angul, Gajapati, Boudh, Jagatsinghpur, and Puri, as well as two people from Balangir and four people from the Khurda district.

The SRC continued that in addition, eight cattle were also killed as lightning struck Gajapati and Kandhamal districts.
