Delhi Fog Intensifies; 53 Flights Cancelled, Trains Delayed As Temperature Drops To 4° Celsius

The cold weather in Delhi continues and it has yet again witnessed one of the coldest mornings of the season. The temperature in the national capital has dropped to 4° Celsius and Delhi is witnessing some of the densest fog of the season. Owing to this dense fog, travel in and out of the city has been severely impacted. Here are all of the important details that you would need to know about this dense fog and its impact.

Delhi Fog Intensifies: 53 Flights Cancelled, Trains Delayed

The fog in Delhi keeps intensifying and has severely affected travelling to and from the national capital. According to an article which was recently published by India Today, as many as 53 flights have been cancelled owing to the dense fog.

Out of these 53, three are international arrivals, 13 are international departures, 16 are domestic departures and 21 are domestic arrivals. In addition to this, around 120 flights have also been delayed, both domestic and international.

Even trains aren’t immune from the impact of fog. The New Delhi Railway Station or the NDRS has witnessed multiple train delays. A number of passengers are seen waiting at the station as they await the arrival of the trains, some of which have been delayed for more than five hours.

Temperature Drops To 4° Celsius And Visibility Is Affected

As per the information shared by the Indian Meteorological Department or the IMD, visibility has been impacted in many parts of the country. If the visibility remains at 500 metres, then the fog is considered shallow.

The fog is considered moderate if visibility remains up to 200 metres. If the visibility is 50 metres, then the fog is categorised as dense. Anything below 50 metres is considered very dense.
