Snatching Incidents Remain Low
Snatching incidents have remained low, with three cases recorded in 2024, of which two have been solved. In 2023, two snatching cases were reported, and both were resolved. Robbery cases, however, saw an increase. In 2024, five robberies were reported, with four cases solved. In 2023, only one robbery case was registered.
The security of the Delhi Metro is managed by a combined effort of the Delhi Police, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). While CISF officers handle frisking duties at the 190 metro stations, the Delhi Police patrol both the metro premises and the trains. The DMRC has also employed security guards at metro stations to help manage the large crowds.
Sixteen metro police stations are responsible for registering and investigating these cases. A senior police officer mentioned that metro security is tightened periodically through coordinated efforts between the Delhi Police, DMRC, and CISF. These measures are put in place to ensure the safety of the passengers and the metro system as a whole.
