The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is a 1,350 km long, 8 lanes wide, access-controlled expressway that connects Mumbai with New Delhi. On March 8, 2019, Nitin Gadkari formally set the project’s foundation in the presence of Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley. Delhi-Mumbai Expressway: Another Stretch Is Almost Ready!
According to officials with knowledge of the situation, the 244-kilometre stretch of the Delhi-Mumbai motorway that is in Madhya Pradesh is nearly finished and is expected to open to the public in July or August. This expressway’s first segment, from Sohna in Haryana to Dausa in Rajasthan, was officially opened in February of this year.
An official from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways told News18 that the stretch in Madhya Pradesh is finished and only needs to be finished. According to the official, eight of the nine packages of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway that travel through the state have finished construction.

According to the report, the basic structure is ready but the finishing is left. The Madhya Pradesh section will be ready around July or August. The section of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway that runs through Madhya Pradesh would connect the state’s major cities, including Garoth, Jaora, Ratlam, and Thandla, as well as the Mandsaur, Ratlam, and Jhabua districts.
Details Of The Expressway Project
Around ₹1,00,000 crores is the estimated total project value, including the cost of purchasing the land. The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will connect the Sohna Elevated Corridor in Delhi with the Jawaharlal Nehru Port in Maharashtra. Further, it travels through the states of Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Delhi. It extends to a total of 1,350 km thanks to two spurs, DND-Faridabad-KMP and Virar-JNPT.

The expressway’s initial width will be 8 lanes, with a greenfield alignment route in disadvantaged communities. This will cut the current 24-hour travel time in half to 12 hours.
