The lockdown due to COVID-19 has halted many major activities nationwide. Taking the situation into consideration, Delhi University is mulling over conducting the entire admission process online this year. The count of seats is also likely to increase. Until last year, admissions to DU colleges were partially online. Students had to visit the college for the overall completion of the admission procedure.
How Is It Happening?
For DU admissions 2020-21, students can select the college of their choice, opt for the course they want to pursue, submit the scanned documents and pay the fees, all through an online admission portal. Earlier it was decided that within one month of fee submission, students need to turn up at the colleges for certificate verification. Now, keeping in mind the current scenario, Dean Shobha Bagai has informed that the verification of certificates too might take place through the web.

What Else?
The university has urged the principles of the affiliated colleges to complete all relevant tasks by April 30th to ensure hassle-free online admissions for the students. The colleges have been instructed to upload all course-wise combinations, the number of seats for each course and other details on their websites. If there is an additional eligibility criterion for any combination, they need to mention that too. The last date for these colleges to send all details to the DU admission branch is April 30th. Also, the reservation of seats under the economically weaker section (EWS) will hike from 10% to 15% for the academic year 2020-21.

This initiative by the admission committee will ease the woes of both the teachers and students. It will be especially beneficial for students who are from other parts of the country and abroad. After all, no matter what happens, education won’t stop for anything.
