IMD Issues Yellow Alert In Delhi

While parts of India are experiencing extreme heat, the national capital, Delhi, had a rainy and chilly start to the week. As per a report by the Hindustan Times, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a “yellow alert” in Delhi for Monday and Tuesday. A new western disturbance is likely to bring scattered rainfall and gusty winds of up to 50 km/hr across northwest India.

Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 37.9 degrees Celsius (°C) on Sunday, which is a bit below normal. The maximum is expected to stay between 37-39°C today, before dipping to 35-37°C on Tuesday and 34-36°C on Wednesday. As per IMD, the minimum temperature on Sunday was 26.2°C, a degree above normal, and is likely to remain between 25-27°C until Thursday.

Not only in Delhi, but heavy rain, followed by thunderstorms and gusty winds, is expected to impact the northeast, eastern coast, southern states, and parts of central India in the upcoming days. As per the IMD’s latest advisory. Special attention is on Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and the Northeast states like Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh.

How Is The Weather In Other States?

Apart from Delhi and southern states, Maharashtra, especially Mumbai, is set for another hot and humid week, with temperatures mostly hovering between 34°C and 36°C. While extreme heat and sticky humidity may continue early in the week, occasional cloud cover and slightly cooler evenings could offer mild relief by the weekend. The week’s highest maximum temperature is expected to touch 36°C, while cooler days may stay closer to 34°C.
As per reports by News18, Bengaluru’s weather is set for a noticeable shift this week, with gloomy skies, thunderstorms, and rain chances slowly replacing dry heat. Temperatures are likely to hover around the low-30s, while rainfall later in the week and gusty winds could bring welcome relief.
