On July 20, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) decided to close five metro stations amid heightened security across the national capital. DMRC Closes Several Metro Stations In Delhi
According to CNBC TV18, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) took to X on Monday morning to announce the closure of Janpath, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, and Seva Teerth metro stations, citing “security reasons”.
A few hours later, the DMRC issued another update, announcing that interchange facilities had been restored and the gates at Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, and Seva Teerth metro stations had been reopened. Commuters can once again enter, exit, and interchange at these stations after they were temporarily closed earlier in the day.

However, Janpath and Patel Chowk metro stations continue to remain closed due to security concerns and will remain shut until further notice. Commuters have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly and use alternative metro stations or other modes of transport where necessary.

Delhi Police Issues Traffic Advisory
Apart from the Delhi Metro closures, the Delhi Traffic Police have also issued a traffic advisory for commuters. According to The Indian Express, heavy traffic is expected on several roads around Parliament due to heightened security.
Commuters have been advised to avoid key stretches, including Rafi Marg, Motilal Nehru Marg, Maulana Azad Road, K. Kamraj Marg, Raisina Road, Rajendra Prasad Road, Parliament Street, Ashoka Road, Talkatora Road, Pandit Pant Marg, and Rakab Ganj Gurudwara Road. Traffic is also likely to be affected at major intersections, including Vijay Chowk, Boat Club, Rail Bhawan, Patel Chowk, Bhagat Singh Chowk, Prime Chowk, GRG, Jalebi Chowk, and Sunehri Masjid.
To ease congestion, motorists have been advised to use alternate routes, including Janpath, Mansingh Road, Akbar Road, Teen Murti Marg, Shanti Path, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Road, Kamal Ataturk Marg, Panchsheel Marg, Vinay Marg, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Ram Manohar Lohia Road, Mother Teresa Crescent Road, 11 Murti, Sardar Patel Marg, and the Outer Circle in Connaught Place. Traffic personnel have also been deployed at key junctions to regulate traffic and assist commuters.
