Delhiites, we come bearing some good news for you all! The much-anticipated Yamuna cruise is likely to begin on February 20. According to Delhi Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra, only a few technical formalities remain, after which the cruise will be ready to set sail. Here’s all you need to know.
Yamuna Cruise To Begin In Delhi This Month
According to Hindustan Times, the vessel for the Yamuna cruise arrived in Delhi from Mumbai on Friday, and the Delhi government plans to launch the much-awaited cruise later this month. It is currently dry-docked at the Sonia Vihar Sports Club. As per an official, the authorities plan to run a trial for the same on February 16 or 17.
With the vessel now in Delhi, only a few technical formalities remain before the cruise begins operations. The Yamuna cruise will accommodate up to 32 passengers and offer onboard amenities such as music, entertainment, and food services. Each trip will last about an hour, and the service will be inaugurated by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.

The Yamuna cruise is part of the Delhi government’s broader plan to rejuvenate the river and develop it into a recreation and leisure hub. To offer visitors an international-style experience, the government also plans to introduce water sports, additional recreational activities, and a full-fledged leisure zone at the cruise terminal—all at pocket-friendly prices.
The cruise will operate along a five-kilometre stretch of the Yamuna between Sonia Vihar and Jagatpur, offering passengers panoramic views of the ghats and the river’s natural landscape. The jetties will be equipped with boarding zones, ticket counters, and waiting areas.
HT reported that this cruise will be equipped with all life-saving equipment, like life jackets, life rings, and firefighting equipment required by regulatory authorities. It was built by Mumbai-based Inspiration Marine Pvt Ltd.
