Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI Airport) in Delhi recently received a bomb threat on the Facebook page of the airport. Officials stated that the airport authorities got notified about this threat over the weekend. According to a report by The Print, the threat was received from someone named Vishesh Sajjanhar on Saturday. Soon police initiated a probe to look into the matter and conduct searches.

Sources shared that the Facebook user uploaded a post stating that he has planted a bomb in an airline at the Delhi airport. Not just this, he even hinted about Pakistan vaguely, according to a report by the Republic World. Right after receiving this bomb threat online, the police officials began investigating the incident. It seemed like a fake threat but the police did not leave the investigation in between. The probe is going on so that the police can get information about the Facebook user allegedly giving bomb threats to the IGI airport.

An officer shared that the threat does not have a specific point. The man vaguely mentioned targetting an Air India flight with a Pakistan connection, as reported by The Print.

An FIR Was Registered Soon

After coming across this threat on the Facebook page, the Social Media Shift in charge of the airport wasted no time and let the IGI airport police know about the bomb threat. An FIR was filed immediately. The Delhi police lodged the FIR under several sections of the Indian Penal Code. The accused Facebook user has been identified already. The cyber team is investigating to identify his location.

Devesh Kumar Mahla is the DCP of the IGI airport and he shared that the airport runway went through a proper search operation. The scheduled flights had to face a pause of about 3 hours due to all of these. The flight services resumed after the investigators found out that it was a hoax bomb threat.

The probe into this incident of online bomb threat is still on. Officials are trying to get hold of the man who posted this threat online.
