Desi Wife Reveals Most Unexpected Thing Her Italian Husband Wanted From India; Netizens: “Jiju Is Desi”

For our door ke rishtedaar (far-off relatives) staying abroad, their special demand from India would usually entail spice powders, namkeen or mithai. Perhaps, even homemade snacks like thepla or chai patti. But for an Italian man with a desi wife, he had just one demand from his sister-in-law arriving from India. And you’d never guess what it is!

Italian Man Asked Desi Relative To Bring McAloo Tikki From India

Digital creators, Surbhi & Dario AKA Paneer & Parmigiano, are a UK-based couple who often share a glimpse of their Indian-Italian household and relationship nok-jhok on Instagram. This time, the Indian wife shared a reel about the most unexpected thing her Italian husband wanted from India. She revealed that her sister was travelling from India, and she asked her followers to guess her husband, Dario’s, special request. He wanted a parcel all the way from India.

Surbhi gives a hint that it’s something to eat. But as his wife, she herself admits to having never guessed his unexpected demand. “Even if you take seven births, you won’t be able to guess,” she challenged, raising the stakes. The doting wife pans the camera only to show her Italian husband proudly holding a McDonald’s packet.

Dario wanted a McAloo Tikki, a popular vegetarian burger at McDonald’s in India. “So what? It’s the best!” says Dario nonchalantly, eagerly waiting to dig into his desi burger that has travelled long miles. Surbhi can’t help but agree with him. First launched by McDonald’s in India in 1998, the McAloo Tikki burger comes with a potato and green peas patty prepared with Indian spices and coated with breadcrumbs. The burger is filled with onion, tomato and mayonnaise. Not just amongst desis, but even foreigners have a liking for the burger that is mildly spicy and has a crisp potato patty.

Netizens Call Him “Desi”; McDonald’s Responds

So, while it isn’t a surprise that the Italian man has a fancy for it. It’s certainly amusing that he got it delivered from India. His other two requests included gujiya and an idol of Lord Hanuman. Netizens poured the comments section with heartwarming reactions. Many agreed with his taste. Some wondered if he ordered the digestive, hajmola. A person even said, “Jiju has become a desi”.

McDonald’s India commented, “Saat janam mein nahi guess kiya? But hum toh ek janam mein hi samajh gaye. True love = McAloo Tikki ❤️🍔” Looks like the burger giant itself is in on the joke.
