A job in the aviation industry is a prestigious and adventurous one. However, pilots and cabin crew members need to abide by some stringent guidelines to be permitted on duty. One of them is passing the alcohol test. Pre-departure alcohol tests were suspended for a couple of months owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. But now it has resumed again. DGCA has revealed that between January 21 and April 30, 2022, 9 pilots and 32 cabin crew members were suspended for failing the pre-flight alcohol tests.

2 Pilots And 2 Cabin Crew Members Suspended From Service For Three Years
Between January 21 and April 30, 7 pilots and 30 cabin crew members were suspended for a period of three months for failing alcohol tests for the first time. 2 pilots and 2 cabin crew members failed alcohol tests for the second time and they have been suspended from services for a period of three long years. Among these, 10 pilots and 4 crew members are from IndiGo. 6 cabin crew members and 1 pilot are from SpiceJet. 5 crew members and 1 pilot are from Go First. 4 cabin crew members are from AirAsia and 1 pilot is from Air India.
During this period nine Pilots and 32 cabin crew were found breath analyser test (BA) positive. Out of these, two pilots and two cabin crew have been suspended for a period of three years for being positive for the second time: Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)

Pilots And Cabin Crew Members Tested BA Positive And Were Barred From Boarding Flights
Pilots and cabin crew members undergo a breath analyser ( BA) test before boarding the flights. If they test BA positive due to alcohol consumption, they will be barred from boarding the flights. Meanwhile, Indigo Faces Probe By DGCA For Denying Differently-Abled Child On A Flight.
