Commonly known as the Masala King of Dubai, Dhananjay Datar joined Kamiya Jani, our Editor-in-Chief, for an insightful episode of Stories From UAE. Dhananjay is the owner of Al Adil, a popular supermarket in Dubai, and has built himself from the ground up. Al Adil is known to cater to thousands of Indians residing in Dubai. They bring all kinds of Indian food items without making them miss their homeland. While talking, we learned Dhananjay is passionate about fitness despite his busy schedule.

Dhananjay Datar Strongly Believes That Health Is Wealth

Dhananjay told us that over the years he specifically focused on building his brand and flourishing. Working at a stretch for around 16 to 18 hours in a day, not eating food on time and more impacted his health. Earlier, his unusual meal timings used to be skipping breakfast, lunch at around three to four in the afternoon and finally, dinner at two in the morning.

Due to high work commitments, he gradually neglected his health which led to severe acidity issues. Dhananjay was advised to eat boiled food, twice or thrice a day. He recalled thinking to himself, “I earned huge sums of money and can’t even enjoy my favourite food.”

This is when he reflected on the importance of health. This incident opened his mind and he spoke in simple terms, “Health nahi hai toh paisa kis kaam ka!” To summarise, he meant that what is the use of earning money when your health is in jeopardy?
