1. Seek Blessings At Pasupatheswarar Temple

This ancient temple is one of the seven Sivastalams. You can witness statues of Pasupatheeswarar Lingam, a Rangamatha, milk oozing from a cow and more impressive things.

2. Explore Govt. Museum

Established in the year 2000, this museum showcases stunning bronze items, metal wares, musical instruments, coins, fossils, botanical specimens, molluscan shells and other marine specimens. You may attend their guided tours and lecture programmes for in-depth learning. 

3. Visit Mariamman Temple

This is a popular temple devoted to Sri Mariamman in the district of Karur. During May, the Kumbum Festival is celebrated and devotees participating in festivities have to carry the sacred waters of Amaravathi River back to the temple. 

4. Go To Venkataramana Swamy Temple

This temple is dedicated to Lord Kalyana Venkataramana Swamy which is located at the top of a hillock. Interestingly, this temple is also known as South Thirupathi!

The name Nerur is quite similar to Karur! This is located on the river banks of the Kaveri. It is known for the samadhi of a 17th-century Hindu saint named Sri Sadasiva Brahmendra.

  • By Road: The nearest bus stop is Karur Bus Stand and you can take the State Express Transport Corporation which connects major cities nearby. Buses travelling on Highway NH 44 NS Varanasi – Kanyakumari road and NH 81 Coimbatore – Chidambaram road connect to Karur.
  • By Rail: You can take a train to the nearest spot, Karur Railway station. The station code is KRR and it comes under Salem Railway Division.
  • By Air: The nearest airport to Karur is Tiruchirappalli International Airport. It is 78 km away and you may book a taxi to your destination.
