Disney World is a place that every kid (and also adult) wishes to visit at least once in their life. It is a place where fantasy meets reality in the most enchanting way and that’s why people often call it “The Most Magical Place on Earth”! However, many fans aren’t very happy right now because Disney World has decided to close three of its most iconic attractions – Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat. Scroll on to know more about it.

Disney World Bids Farewell To Three Iconic Attractions

From thrilling rides and dazzling parades to beloved characters and themed resorts, Disney World has been a family favourite destination for decades. This place offers a mix of nostalgia, innovation, and storytelling that intrigues people of all ages. Over the years, there have been many additions and expansions in the theme park to improve the visitor experience. However, the latest expansion plans aren’t something that fans are totally on board with.

According to Hindustan Times, Disney World will shut down three of its most iconic attractions – Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat – on July 7, 2025. These popular attractions will be replaced by a new attraction based on the Disney and Pixar “Cars” universe. As per reports, it will be called ‘Piston Peak National Park’.

According to the Disney World website, “Inside Piston Peak, guests will be able to see and explore the visitor lodge, Ranger HQ, trails and more all set within the Disney and Pixar “Cars” universe. To make sure these buildings fit naturally within the surrounding majestic landscapes, Imagineers are using a style of architecture called “Parkitecture,” which was developed by the National Park Service to create structures that harmonise with the natural environment. ”

Fans Not Happy With This Decision

While the new addition has excited a few, fans at large aren’t too impressed. Fans have condemned the move, with some even pointing out how Disney World had enough land to make new attractions. Many have shared that they might rethink their trip after this announcement.

One of the posts on social media platform X read, “Canceling my trip in October and sadly, I will never visit that park again.”

While another posted, “Not coincidentally, it also represents the largest mistake in the company’s history…”

“I strongly dislike it. Disney has plenty of land. Stop demolishing old stuff. Just add more and refurbish the old,” one of the netizens added.
