The Dubai Kartdrome hosted the fourth round and the first one outside Europe, attracting a total of 102 karters from 32 countries.

For those with an obsession with car racing and motorsports events, here’s a piece of information that you might want to know! The Dubai Kartdrome, a subsidiary of Union Properties in collaboration with F1 Academy, welcomed 102 karters from 32 countries. With an aim to provide opportunities and increase female participation, the Kartdrome welcomed 100+ motorsport drivers in the latest round of the Champions of the Future Academy. Those to test themselves against the international talent were the Dubai Autodrome Karting Academy (DAKA) and junior series graduates. Britain’s Conor Clancy and Mohammed Mneimneh from Lebanon emerged victorious in their junior and senior races respectively.

The Dubai Kartdrome event was no short of talented champions and karters both young and old! 13-year-old Clancy, a former Dubai O Plate champion, was appreciative of the fantastic experience that improved her racing. Atiqa Mir, the first female to win at the Rotax Max Challenge International Trophy had good words to say for the event. She said that the challenging race helped to boost her confidence and she was grateful for the opportunity provided to help her grow. 

But that’s not all! Another young talent, 12-year-old Maxim Bobreshov was a proud winner in the latest round of the series. The young man has been karting for 6 years and credits the Kartdrome as a place of learning and development. He expressed his excitement at his win and was confident and well-equipped like a champion behind the wheel! Following races in Spain and Italy, the championship will end in the UAE with Al Ain and Al Forsan staging the fifth and sixth rounds. Moreover, the F1 Academy’s support of three female drivers in each of the three mixed-gender categories supports the aim of gender inclusion and diversity in motorsport racing.

The staging of COFTA reinforces Dubai Kartdrome as a leading Karting facility in the Middle East to nurture local talent. The DAKA 10-week programme provides STEM learning and driving lessons with mechanical and practical sessions. It assists students in gaining the skills required for a motorsport driver. James Geidel, the president of the organising body RGMMC said that UAE was the perfect destination for expansion outside of Europe. 

While the event may be over, the future undoubtedly sees growth in the motorsport industry for many years to come!
