Dubai Municipality is constantly trying to make lives better for the residents in the Emirates. And for this purpose, they recently introduced a new project that aims to avert the risk of any potential flooding in the Dubai Creek area. Yes, they have implemented a project for rebuilding and rehabilitating the supporting walls. These are situated along the Deira side of the Dubai Creek and the project costs AED112 million. Here’s all you need to know about this project.

With the aim of enhancing the effectiveness of Dubai Creek’s retaining walls, and upgrading the dock, there will be reconstruction of sections that have been damaged and dilapidated over the past few years. Also, this is being done to prevent potential flooding during harsh weather conditions will be done. The efforts are to minimise the risk of any potential flooding. Yes, and this can be caused by bad weather, thereby reducing the risk of destruction to commercial traffic.

This Project Is Worth AED112 M

Talking about the project, as revealed by the Dubai Media Office, it was mentioned that this project will be implemented in two phases. So, the initial phase will involve the restoration of a 2.1 km stretch that will be along the Deira side of the Dubai Creek. For this purpose, the site will be divided into multiple sections. And with each segment to be sequentially patterned to ensure uninterrupted docking traffic.

What Does The Project Entail?

It should be noted that the timeline of the project is 14 months, which includes the restoration of 2.1 kilometres of Deira Pier. This involves the replacement and rehabilitation of the damaged sections of the country wall. This reaches a depth of 8 m and there will also be an increase in its height to 3 m. The improvements aim to ensure the safe docking of ships in the area. So, with this project, the aim to enhance services and facilities for safe docking and navigation will be ensured through the provision of 200 anchors across the dock.

Finally, it’s worth mentioning that their designs adhere to the highest global standards for the preservation of the supporting walls stability and safeguarding against increased flooding.
