Taking a step towards the future, Dubai has conducted a successful test flight of an aerial taxi. The air taxi, for those of you who are still unaware, is being developed by Joby Aviation. This US-based company is pioneering in electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL). And with the successful test flight, it marks a major move towards the future. Dubai Tests Air Taxi Flight
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is the Crown Prince of Dubai, Minister of Defence of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Executive Council, announced this major update on X (formerly Twitter). This test flight was carried out in partnership with the Dubai RTA. So, with the aim of introducing this mode of transport as a part of the smart mobility network in the emirate, it truly is a leap into the future.
As evident from the video shared by Dubai Media Office, this test flight was carried out under strict supervision. With a dedicated team overlooking the launch of the test flight, the eVTOL took flight under strict supervision. With many notable dignitaries present, the eVTOL took a tour of the area before the pilot landed it.
