According to a senior official with the RTA, five new taxi firms have been given permission to operate in Dubai (RTA). The businesses plan to provide commute solutions akin to those offered by Uber and Careem.
Why This Latest Initiative In Dubai For Cabs?
As we are well aware, two apps for cab service weren’t enough for emiratis. Dubai residents very much required this initiative. There is no doubt about the efficient services provided by Uber and Careem. However, several options to choose from never hurt anybody.
The expanding economy, migration of tourists to the UAE, and growing preference for taxi services are the reasons for licencing so many companies in the cab transport sector.
The latest data show that the percentage of taxi service reservations made electronically using the Hala system in Dubai over the past two years has increased from 5% to 33%. In decreasing order, Deira, Business Bay, Al Barsha, Al Raffa, and Jumeirah Village Circle are the five areas in Dubai with the most significant per cent of taxi usage.

The last one is yet to be announced. These latest services would be responsible for offering services like airport and other varied transfers, through luxury and general cars.
