It wasn’t too long ago when social media was rife with reports of their being an underwater railway project connecting Dubai to Mumbai. Many platforms published and wrote extensively about this development. However, recently, a report by Khaleej Times mentions Abdulla Al Shehhi, the managing director of the National Advisor Bureau Limited, who is the brains behind this concept, clarifying the same. Here’s the reality about the viral claim on social media.
Dubai To Mumbai Via Underwater Train?
Wouldn’t it be quite easy to travel from Dubai to Mumbai in an underwater train? Well, it seems that this is what dominated the feed in the previous week. However, Abdulla Al Shehhi, who is also the brain behind this concept, has clarified this. Yes, as mentioned in the same report, it was revealed that this project is still being studied for its feasibility. It is still in the early stage of analysis, and many factors are being considered that may interfere with the final outcome. So, it is rather difficult to confirm the date of approval.
In fact, it was also mentioned how this project aims to support trade between the UAE and India. There are even other proposed routes, which include Karachi and Muscat. These will connect the Gulf region to the Indian subcontinent, which includes not only India but also Pakistan and Bangladesh.

The Speed Is Expected To Be Up To 1000 Km/h
One of the stated goals of the underwater train project is to transport oil from the UAE to India. On the other hand, it also aims to transport water from the Narmada River in Central India to the UAE.
In case this becomes a reality, it is expected that the train will be suspended using electromagnets. Yes, with a speed of 1000 km/h, it will be using Maglev technology, and the train will be passing through concrete tunnels that will be submerged 20 to 30 m below the surface of the Arabian Sea. This would be done to anchor the same stability.
