Announced on Sunday, July 12, the AED2 billion Latifa bint Hamdan Corridor Development Project will introduce a 12km road linking Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Khail Road, Al Meydan Street, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, all the way through to Emirates Road. The scale of the build is genuinely impressive too, with seven bridges spanning 2,300 metres and eight tunnels covering 900 metres, all designed to keep traffic flowing smoothly once complete.
How Much Time Will It Actually Save You
Here’s the number that matters most: once finished, the corridor will cut travel time between Umm Al Sheif Street and Emirates Road from 33 minutes down to just 15 minutes, a 54% reduction. The road in future will handle a serious volume, with capacity for 16,000 vehicles per hour in both directions. Expect the construction to wrap up by the end of 2028.

This isn’t just a road for drivers passing through, either. Residents across Nad Al Sheba, Al Barari, Dubai Hills, Dubai District One, Mohammed Bin Rashid Gardens, Living Legends, Majan and Global Village stand to benefit directly. Also, the commercial and industrial zones along Latifa bint Hamdan Street and Al Meydan Street. Cyclists haven’t been left out of the plan either. With 12.5km of new cycling tracks running alongside the road, it links up with existing tracks to connect Al Qudra all the way to Jumeirah.
