Placing it amongst the region’s most inclusive coastal destinations, Dubai’s Jumeirah Beach 2 has been awarded the Golden Accessibility Accreditation. After all, it has been recognised for its commitment towards offering a safe and welcoming environment for the People of Determination and in line with international accessibility standards. Not to mention, as revealed by the Dubai Municipality, this beach has the first dedicated sensory room in the Middle East for individuals who are with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Sensory Processing Disorders.
It Has The First Dedicated Beach Sensory Room In The Middle East
Truly a big achievement, this comes after a comprehensive six-month programme, which combined infrastructure upgrades, staff training, specialist accessibility solutions, and operational improvements. The efforts aim to ensure that visitors of all abilities can enjoy their beach experience comfortably. There is also pathways and ramps, wheelchair charging stations, accessible toilets and showers, floating wheelchairs for safe sea access, golf cart transfers, complimentary beach chairs and umbrellas, inclusive playground facilities, and of course, a dedicated swimming platform as well.

The Beach Sensory Room Supports Visitors With Autism Spectrum Disorder & Sensory Sensitivity
Coming back to the sensory room, this is a purpose-built space, which has been designed to support visitors who have Autism Spectrum Disorder and Sensory sensitivity. Offering a common and regulated environment, visitors can use it before, during, or after their time at the beach. With the Golden Accessibility Accreditation, the efforts of the authorities are being recognised, which aims to make it a more inclusive environment. It should be noted that this certification is part of Dubai Municipality’s effort to develop inclusivity at public beaches in the emirate.
