Dubai RTA is constantly trying to ensure that the roads and infrastructure in the emirate remain top-notch and are maintained to ensure that people can easily commute. And now, keeping up with this idea, they have opened a new 300 m bridge on the Sheikh Zayed Road. This allows motorists from Abu Dhabi and Jebel Ali direct access to the iconic Mall of the Emirates. The best bit? It has reduced travel time to just one minute from the existing 10 minutes.
New 300 M Bridge Opened On Sheikh Zayed Road
With the opening of the single-lane bridge that can handle up to 900 vehicles per hour, motorists from Abu Dhabi and Jebel Ali now get direct access to the Mall of the Emirates. The best part about this bridge is that it has cut the travel time to the mall from 10 minutes to just one minute. Additionally, the road next to the Kempinski Hotel has also been converted from one-way to two-way traffic. Not to mention, there are also upgrades to the mall’s entrance, intersections, pedestrian walkways, surrounding roads, and cycling tracks.

As revealed by the RTA, these works include building the new bridge, upgrading the junction to ease access for vehicles that are arriving from Umm Suqeim Street to the malls, car parks, and widening the southbound ramp at Umm Suqeim Junction. Additionally, 2.5 km of at-grade roads around the mall have also been upgraded. Additionally, six signalised intersections have been developed, and a bus station at the Mall of the Emirates Metro Station has also been modified.
Enhancing the pedestrian and cycling tracks, improving road paving, lighting, stormwater drainage, landscaping, and traffic signals, the new bridge enhances road safety.
So, if you are someone who has plans of visiting the Mall of the Emirates, which marks its 20th anniversary this year, you will want to take this road, and we are sure you will love the new upgrade.
