What Is Dubai’s New Initiative, ‘Speak Out’ And How Is It Useful For Women?

Dubai Police is asking everyone to speak up, legit. As part of the UAE’s designation of 2026 as the Year of the Family, Dubai Police has launched the ‘Speak Out’ campaign. It’s a nationwide initiative urging women to report abuse and reassuring them of full legal protection.

Dubai Police Launch ‘Speak Out’ Campaign To Protect Women

The aim is to make women feel protected and make sure they are comfortable in the emirate to ask for help. The campaign is led by the General Department of Human Rights. It is working closely with the General Department of Community Happiness as they focus on one core message: reporting abuse is not only safe, it is a legal right.

Dubai Police wants women to know that every report is handled with confidentiality, professionalism, and respect. Privacy and Support are the two important pillars of this initiative. It’s about protection, dignity, and stability inside families.

The Law That Has Women Covered

As per the Federal Decree Law No. 10 of 2019, it criminalises all forms of domestic abuse. The law doesn’t stop at legal action but also guarantees social, psychological, and legal support for victims. Abuse leaves more than visible marks, and the system recognises that recovery needs more than a police report.

The ‘Speak Out’ campaign makes these protections clearer and easier to understand for all women who feel unsafe talking about it.

Leadership Speaks Up

According to Ali Mohammed Almatrooshi, Director of the Child and Women Protection Department, the campaign reflects Dubai Police’s long-standing commitment to human rights, with women’s safety at its centre.

As mentioned in a report by Gulf News, he stressed that protecting women from domestic violence is a shared responsibility. Families, communities, and institutions all play a strong role.

Multiple Ways To Ask For Help

Reporting channels include:

  • The Women Protection Service on the Dubai Police smart app and official website
  • The 901 contact centre for non-emergency support
  • 999 for emergencies
