Tuesday did not begin on a good note for the Andaman Sea as this region was hit by a scary earthquake. In the early hours of 29 August 2023, an earthquake of magnitude 4.3 on the Richter scale struck the Andaman Sea, as stated by the National Center for Seismology. Here are all the necessary details that you need to know about this unexpected natural disaster in the Andaman Sea.

It Was Around 3:50 AM When The Tremors Were Felt

Taking to the social media platform ‘X’, the National Center for Seismology (@NCS_Earthquake) shared important information about the earthquake jolting the Andaman Sea in the early hours of Tuesday.

  • The tremors of this earthquake of magnitude 4.3 jolted at the Andaman Sea at 03:50:10 IST.
  • The National Center for Seismology (@NCS_Earthquake) stated that the epicentre of the earthquake was reported at 11.46 Latitude, 93.34 Longitude, and 10 km deep below the earth’s surface.

Two Earthquakes Jolted In Chhattisgarh

Monday night witnessed two earthquakes hitting different parts of Chhattisgarh. National Center for Seismology (@NCS_Earthquake) took to the social media platform ‘X’ to share further details about the timing, locations, and epicentre of these 2 natural disasters.

  • The first earthquake that jolted in Chhattisgarh was at 20:04:31 IST.
  • The location of the tremors was the Surguja district of the state.
  • As shared by the National Center for Seismology (@NCS_Earthquake), the epicentre was 23.21 Latitude, 83.22 Longitude, and 10 km deep below the earth’s surface.

The second earthquake hit the Indian state at 8:26 PM on Monday. An earthquake of 3.9 magnitude on the richter scale struck a region about 10 km to the east of Ambikapur in Chhattisgarh. According to the National Center for Seismology (@NCS_Earthquake), the tremors hit at a latitude of 23.13 and longitude of 83.28. The depth of the tremors jolting below the earth’s surface was 11 km deep.

India witnessed a total of 3 earthquakes in less than 12 hours. The tremors jolted first in Surguja, then in Ambikapur, and lastly in the Andaman Sea.
