The Grand Egyptian Museum spread across 120 acres, has the world’s largest collection of ancient Egyptian artefacts. The museum showcases more than 100,000 objects, including artefacts from the tomb of King Tutankhamun dating back to 7000 BC.

Visitors can view a variety of items, such as pharaonic statues, sarcophagi (rulers and wealthy people were often buried in these), and mummified bodies. Artefacts and collections like the boy-king’s collection are yet to be put on display. The museum’s wall paintings play a significant part in portraying the ancient civilisation of Egypt.
Main galleries feature various eras such as the third intermediate period (1070-664 BC), late period (664-332 BC), Graeco-Roman period (332 BC-AD 395), and more.

Why The Delay In Opening The Museum?
The museum’s opening date was initially set for 2012. However, it has been repeatedly postponed since then. The delayed The opening of this mega-project had many factors contributing to its delay, like political instability, the COVID-19 pandemic and the high cost of over $1 billion (£768 million).
The museum is not yet fully and officially open. The museum has opened as a partial trial run, allowing visitors to explore 12 ancient Egyptian building halls, while the main hall and staircase were opened last year.
The official opening date of the museum is yet to be announced.
Paraglider Spotted A Dog Atop The Pyramids
While we are on the topic of the Grand Egyptian Museum near the Pyramids of Giza, in related news, a very interesting video went viral on X. In the video, a paraglider flying high above the Great Pyramid of Giza spotted a dog on the top of the ancient monument.
