It’s worth mentioning that no exact cause has been determined so far and it is still under investigation. However, speculations suggest that this might be due to heat generated by excess fuel in the tank. In case you’re wondering, 320 passengers were temporarily accommodated in the waiting room at the airport as the boarding had been delayed. This flight eventually took off after all the inspections were thoroughly completed. This is however not the only flight to the UAE that has been delayed in recent times.

Yes, quite recently, an Etihad flight from Geneva was also delayed and later cancelled due to a suspected bird strike. Yes, the flight was supposed to take off on Sunday, September 2 at 10:40 AM but it was later delayed and subsequently cancelled. Due to routine maintenance, checks were prompted, which came after a suspected bird strike. While the airline apologised for the disruptions, passengers were being assisted with travel arrangements. For those who are not aware, bird strike occurs at lower altitudes and often during the day as great numbers of birds are flying at lower heights during this time. Not only this, another Etihad flight from Colombo to Abu Dhabi had also returned to Sri Lanka after a bird trike.

So, even though incidents like these, which can delay the flight are not common, they cannot be completely ruled out either.
