Emirates Extends Validity Of Tickets Up To 24 Months

Dubai-based airline Emirates has announced that all tickets will now be valid up to two years. Passengers can extend the validity of their tickets up to a period of 24 months. The decision comes as a part of the ‘new options’ announced for travelers affected by Covid 19.

The new policy on the Emirates website says: “We’d like you to know that you now have two new options that offer you the flexibility to fly with us again when you’re ready if you booked a ticket before May 31 for travel on or before August 31, 2020.”

According to the new rule, passengers can choose to keep their tickets and the airline will extend its validity for 24 months. The fare paid for the original booking is accepted for any flight to the same destination or region, without extra fees.

What You Must Know

1. What should passengers do?

Passengers who wish to keep your ticket don’t have to call the airline or make any further alterations online. Emirates will keep the booking status as ‘open’ and you can just reschedule your tickets once you’re ready to travel again.

2. Are there other options?

Alternatively, passengers can also convert their original booking into a voucher. Emirates will only provide a voucher for the part of the itinerary that you have not completed. The travel voucher will be valid for one year from the date of issue. You can also use it for flights or other Emirates products and services. The voucher can be extended for another year.

3. Can I change the destination with a voucher or a ‘keep my ticket’ option?

Yes, passengers can change their destinations with both options. The ticket will be valid for one year from the date it is issued and can be extended for another year. The fare paid will be accepted for any flight to the same destination or region.

4. Are there any change fees with either option?

There are no fee changes, with either the voucher or the ‘keep my ticket’ options.

5. Are these options available for tickets booked anytime?

The options are available for bookings made before May 31. Bookings made from 1 June will be subject to fare conditions applicable at the time of booking.

6. What if passengers can’t travel within this period?

You can extend the validity by a year or request for a refund.
