Heathrow Airport had very high passenger numbers recently. Imagine an airport handling about 104,000 passengers a day over the summer! It’s bound to lead to poor and unacceptable service. Hence the airport is seen imposing a cap on daily passenger numbers. The airport has asked airlines to stop selling summer tickets and create a new limit of 100,000 daily passengers. But Emirates has slammed this request.

Emirates Not Ready To Suffer Loss Due To Heathrow Airport’s Capacity Issues

The airline departs Heathrow on six daily flights and denounced the new restrictions as ‘wholly ridiculous and unacceptable.
Due to their incapacity and inaction, the carrier protested the “airmageddon” situation. And they accused the airport of placing all the blame for the expenses and the rush to clean up the mess on airlines and travellers.

According to Emirates, Heathrow gave it just 36 hours to adhere to the new limit. Heathrow also circulated warnings comprising legal action against airlines that disobeyed. It noted that it had sufficient ground support and catering personnel ready to manage its airport flights. Heathrow’s management was reckless towards travellers and its airline clients. They hardly cared
about rehiring and training enough workers in time for the anticipated summer travel boom.

Is There A Need To Cancel Or Reschedule Your Flights?

A Reuters report reveals Heathrow Airport’s average of 1,04,000 bookings per day this summer. So unless the airport contacts you, there’s no need to cancel or reschedule your flights.
Your flight will go ahead unless there’s information from the airport about a change in date or cancellation. You can keep track of your emails for messages from the airlines. Also, do not forget to check your flight status before you head to the airport! However, it might be not easy to buy a ticket for a flight out of Heathrow now. So it’s best not to keep your hopes high.
