England Enters Into Strictest Lockdown Amid The Rise In the New Covid Variant Cases

England is having a hard time amid the rise in the covid-19 cases. And to curb the situation, Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced a national lockdown in England till mid-February. In this, nearly 56 million people of England will return to the full covid-19 lockdown. While announcing the news, PM Johnson also added that the country is at a critical moment, with cases rising rapidly in every part of the country.

Nonessential Shops And Services To Be Shut In England 

Citizens will have to follow a set of rules laid by the government in this process. For schools and colleges, primary and secondary schools and colleges will be shut for in-person learning. University students will also be in lockdown until mid-February.

Nonessential shops, personal care services and restaurants will be shut. For restaurants, only takeout services will be allowed. Like before, people cannot leave their homes except for reasons, like essential medical needs, food shopping, exercise and work for those who cannot do so from home.

England Sees 30 Per Cent Surge In The Cases From Last Week

The cases in the nation are on a rise, on Monday, 26,626 Covid patients were in admitted in the hospitals, which is 30 per cent more from the last week. The UK Covid cases are on the rise in recent weeks as health officials struggle to control the spread of a new variant of the virus that is more contagious than previous variants.

Speaking about the difficult time, PM Johnson also added, that all care home residents and their carers, everyone aged 70 and over, all frontline health and social care workers, and the clinically extremely vulnerable will be offered one dose of a vaccine by mid-February.

Well, Scotland too has imposed strict restrictions. Scottish leader Nicola Sturgeon also imposed a lockdown in her nation until the end of January. Beginning Tuesday, people in Scotland will be required to stay at home except for essential reasons, to help ease the pressure on hospitals and intensive care units, Sturgeon said.

With this, we only hope that England soon gets out of this pandemic.
