In case you missed it, the iconic theme park Essel World is now closing down. Apart from the notice on their website which informs the reader that they are temporarily closing, nothing concrete has been said. But many construe this notice as a nail in the coffin of the legendary amusement park. Multiple reasons compounded into a giant snowball of financial crisis which led the theme park to its end, according to many.
Essel World Shuts Down; Leads To Speculations
If you’re a ‘90s kid, chances are that you might be crestfallen to hear this news. And why wouldn’t you be? It has been the site of countless day trips and picnics and is the epitome of nostalgia for many.
There might be many reasons as to why the theme park shut down, albeit temporarily. When you take into consideration the past couple of years, some of these reasons immediately become apparent.
The first and most obvious reason might be the global pandemic. Businesses that provide more essential services suffered because of the pandemic. So when it comes to a theme park, whose services are not only non-essential but also put patrons at a high risk of exposure to the virus, its financial losses could have been huge.

What Is The Fate Of Water Kingdom?
There is another major reason why Essel World might have had to shut down temporarily. Even before the pandemic, the theme park seemed to have fallen out of favour among people because of competitors like Imagica and Aqua Imagica.
Essel World was one of the first major theme parks that the country got and many flocked to the place just for the sheer novelty of it. But since then, many theme parks have come up giving it a tough competition.
Another factor adding to its demise is that most people, after the pandemic, have less money to spend on leisure activities like going to theme parks. After all, they, too, have suffered through the pandemic.
This has led people to wonder about the fate of Water Kingdom, which is also owned by the Essel Group. Many people on the Internet have pointed out that it, too, is in a shabby state. It may be functional and open now, but since places like Aqua Imagica are more popular, its future doesn’t seem bright.
