European travellers are showing a surprising shift in their summer travel plans for 2025! Instead of going for traditional European hotspots, they are now flocking to Asia for a relaxing vacation, and Thailand is the top Asian destination for them! Notably, India is emerging as a rising star as well and seeing increased search demand from Europeans, led by interest from the UK and the Netherlands.
Thailand Is The Top Choice Of European Travellers This Summer
According to the Agoda report ‘Europe to Asia Summer Travel Trends’, Thailand remains the most searched Asian market by European travellers for the second consecutive year! With its sun-kissed beaches, vibrant street markets, lush jungles, and rich cultural heritage, Thailand emerged as the top choice of holiday destinations among European holidaymakers.
According to the report, this trend reflects a broader change: Europeans are increasingly seeking out Asia’s cultural richness, affordability, and offbeat travel experiences instead of the usual summer destinations. Interestingly, India has also captured growing interest from European travellers. Led by the UK and the Netherlands, there has been a significant rise in interest noted among European travellers.
Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, and Goa emerged as the most searched Indian cities by European travellers planning their summer trips. The United Kingdom stands out as the top origin market searching for stays in India, followed by the Netherlands, France, Germany, and Italy.

Asia Captures The Interest Of Europeans
Offering a perfect mix of adventure, relaxation, and discovery, Thailand emerged as the most favoured choice of travellers from the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, and the Netherlands for the summer of 2025. Following closely are Indonesia, Japan, and Malaysia, with Vietnam making its debut in the top five list by Agoda. Malaysia saw the largest rise in interest, with a 20% increase in searches compared to last year. China, with its waivers, recorded a 14% rise, while Sri Lanka experienced a 13% uptick.
According to Gaurav Malik, Agoda’s Country Director – India, Sri Lanka and Nepal, “Asia continues to be a top choice for European travellers seeking summer getaways, with perennial favourites like Thailand, Indonesia, and Japan continuing to attract visitors year after year.
