The Story Behind Ex-Google MD’s Photo In Egypt Has A Strong Connection With Bollywood
Behind this touristy picture, is a heartwarming story.

Back in 2015, Mr Singh was invited to speak at an event in Egypt. It was at a sensitive moment as this country opened its doors to visitors after a tense duration of civil unrest. The company he was working for during that time listened to him and agreed to him travelling to Egypt but the employer had one condition. He was asked to keep a bodyguard with him on this journey.
As Parminder Singh shared, his employer asked him to attend the conference, deliver his keynote, and return immediately. While he agreed to the circumstances and flew to Egypt to join the event, he was eager to witness the magnificence of Egypt’s iconic pyramids. He shared, “Being so close to the pyramids, though, I couldn’t imagine leaving without seeing them.”
Even his security escort, Ahmed, refused his requests to visit the pyramid due to official orders. However, the escort’s decision changed, and credit goes to Bollywood. Ahmed was a fan of Hindi movies and had an interesting conversation with the former Google MD too. After talking about Bollywood, he agreed to take Mr Singh to the pyramids on one condition. He asked Parminder to delay posting photos on social media to protect his job.
This photo of him posing with the pyramids was clicked by Ahmed. Luckily, Bollywood’s global impact helped him to enjoy a great time in Egypt.

Bollywood Continues To Unite People Across Borders
Reacting to Parminder Singh’s post, Netizens shared their experiences of interacting with Bollywood fans in international destinations. Here are some of their reactions.
Once in Sweden, an Afghan Uber driver chatted Bollywood movies all through the ride, refused any money and insisted that I visit his home for food. I was sceptical but then when he realised my predicament, he brought food from home to my hotel.

It is heartening to know that Bollywood is gaining ground in foreign shores. The musical extravaganza, fighting sequence of big movies are an instant hit across large scale audience!!!
