Ex-Intel India Head, 68-YO Avtar Saini Dies While Cycling After Being Hit By A Cab

We woke up to the devastating news of Avtar Saini passing away. He was the former Intel India head and made an immense contribution to the Pentium processor. He had a significant role in the design of this processor. Saini died on Wednesday after facing a terrible accident in Navi Mumbai. He was outside cycling when he faced the crash and lost his life.

Avtar Saini Passed Away On Wednesday Morning

Taking to the X (formerly Twitter) platform, Shrikant Patil (@sjpatil) shared a picture with Avtar Saini and wrote how he was shocked to hear the disheartening news.

According to the reports surfacing on the Internet, Saini was riding a bicycle on Palm Beach Road and there were some other cyclists as well, as shared by police. While he was cycling in the early hours at around 5:50 AM, his cycle was suddenly rammed by a speeding taxi. Quickly, he was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment but things took the worst turn by then. After reaching the hospital, the 68-year-old was declared dead.

According to a report by NDTV, some fellow cyclists revealed how the speeding cab rammed Saini’s cycle from behind. Seeing the scary accident, the car driver attempted to run away from the accident spot in Nerul. Meanwhile, the frame of his cycle got stuck with the cab’s front and Saini was seen getting dragged to a small distance. He was wearing a helmet but unfortunately, the speeding car hit him in such a terrible way that he passed away while facing multiple severe injuries.

An FIR Has Been Registered Against The Taxi Driver

Saini’s fellow cyclists quickly got hold of the driver and handed the accused to the police. He has been identified as Hrishikesh Khade, according to a report by The Economic Times. Police have already registered an FIR under different IPC sections for rash driving and causing death by negligent driving. The driver has not been arrested yet and has been asked to attend the court proceedings.
