Fitness Coach Advocates Including Colourful Food In Your Diet; Here's Why

If you still aren’t including a variety of colourful food in your diet, then it’s time you think again! It’s not us but fitness coach Ralston D’Souza who is advising you to do the same. There’s a reason your plates must look colourful, filled with fruits and veggies which are vibrant and instantly draw your attention with their distinct hues. Let’s get into this reason.

Fitness Coach Talks About The Importance Of Eating Colourful Food

Taking to his Instagram handle (ral.livezy) fitness coach Ralston D’Souza posted a video about the necessity of including colourful food in one’s diet. He explains, that if people eat food with deep shades of purple, blue and pink, it means they are rich in anthocyanins. Fruits and veggies like brinjal and blueberries are packed with antioxidants that lower blood pressure and facilitate brain function.

Meanwhile, orange and yellow-coloured food like carrots and pumpkins are loaded with beta-carotene, essential for eye health, immune function and skin. When it comes to green-hued food like broccoli and spinach, they contain chlorophyll which is a strong antioxidant. Ralston D’Souza explains that fruits and vegetables that are red in colour are rich in lycopene. These kinds of food can help reduce the risk of certain kinds of cancer and heart disease. Tomatoes and watermelons are worthy examples.
