Flight Prices Dropped After Booking? MakeMyTrip To Now Refund The Difference; Here’s How

MakeMyTrip, a popular online travel booking platform in India where you can book flights, hotels, trains and more, recently introduced a new feature! The new Price Drop Protection refunds you the difference if the flight ticket price goes down after you book. Here’s how it works and what travellers need to know.

MakeMyTrip Introduces Price Drop Protection Feature 

For Indian travellers, flight bookings can be quite tricky. They have to carefully weigh when to book, track fares and calculate whether to book or wait for the flight fare to drop. But not anymore. MakeMyTrip has now introduced a new feature called Price Drop Protection that addresses this anxiety.

The new feature refunds the difference if the flight fare drops after a traveller books their flight ticket. This means that now, a flyer can book early without worries, knowing that they will get the difference back if the lower fare becomes available before departure. This is amazing, right? A person often searches for the same flight multiple times before deciding to book to get the best deal, and this feature will help eliminate this problem.

New Feature Comes With A Small Fee 

The new feature by MakeMyTrip covers one-way and round-trip bookings across both domestic and international flights. To use this feature, a traveller can opt in by clicking “Price Drop Protection” at the time of booking. It starts at ₹229 per person for domestic flights and ₹349 per person for international flights. This means that you will have to pay a small extra fee to avail of its benefits.

The rollout is still in its testing phase. People who opted for it saw a price drop on both domestic and international flights, indicating that the feature is resonating with the users of MakeMyTrip.

Talking about this, Raj Rishi Singh, COO, Flights, Corporate, GCC and Marketing, MakeMyTrip, said, “Travellers should not have to choose between booking early and worrying that fares may fall later. Price Drop Protection lets them book when it works for them, with the reassurance that if the fare drops, they are protected. It is a simple way to offer more flexibility and peace of mind while planning a trip.”
