This magnificent waterfall is unlike any other you have ever seen or heard of. It is rightly renowned for its unique geological formation, which includes a series of natural bridges and a massive sinkhole. The waterfall is formed by the melting snow from Mount Lebanon. It flows through the limestone rocks and eventually plunges into a 250-metre-deep sinkhole known as the Baatara Pothole. The sinkhole is a cylindrical chasm, and the water gushes down into it, creating a mesmerising panorama for travellers.

One of the most fascinating aspects of Baatara Gorge Waterfalls is the presence of three natural bridges that span the gorge and provide a stunning backdrop to the waterfall.  These bridges were formed over millions of years due to the erosive action of the water on the soft limestone rocks. The topmost bridge, known as the Upper Baatara Bridge, is the highest and largest of the three. The Middle Baatara Bridge is situated further down, followed by the Lower Baatara Bridge closest to the waterfall.
