Planning A Wedding In Rajasthan? Know These New Food Rules Before You Book Your Dream Event

A Rajasthan wedding sounds like a dream, right? The royal forts, historic palaces and scenic lakes serve as the perfect backdrop to a marriage. But there are some rules related to food menus and FSSAI if you are planning a destination wedding in Rajasthan. Keep reading to know everything about it here!

Rajasthan Issues New Rules For Weddings And Large Events

The Rajasthan government has now issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for large events like weddings and other celebrations. According to India.com, it is mandatory for organisers to inform the Food Safety Department about large events in advance. Moreover, organisers and caterers must also provide specific details to the department before serving food at weddings, religious, social or cultural events.

This information includes the event date, venue, organiser’s name, caterer’s FSSAI licence number, guest count and the location where the food will be prepared. This means stricter rules will now come into effect for weddings and large events in Rajasthan. People violating the rules or serving food without an FSSAI licence can also face action.

Caterers Must Have FSSAI Registration

According to India.com, this step has been taken to ensure that the food served at public events and weddings is safe. Moreover, it is also mandatory for “halwai” or caterers to have an FSSAI registration along with the organiser’s name, mobile number, estimated guests, beneficiaries and more. Information will also be needed on whether the food will be prepared on-site or off-site.

Reportedly, operators of marriage gardens, banquet halls, hotels and farmhouses have also been instructed to hire only licensed caterers for food preparation and display their licence too. Many small halwais have opposed the new system, calling it impractical and extremely difficult for small business owners.
