The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Command centre) Isha Pant, told Times of India, “We have been convincing people to contact us only if there is an emergency. What’s More?

The police patrol has many interesting stories to share, they claim that some call them to take them to the hospital and pay for their bills, and also wait outside to escort them back home. The police wonder if they can spare two to three hours just to escort a person back home. Will that not take away their time to attend to some actually serious concerns? While the police are left dumbfounded, they are handling the situations patiently to explain to the callers that the patrol service is only for emergencies. This gives rise to a serious concern, at such a time when the resources are stretched thin. The local population is showcasing the irresponsible behaviour of expecting the police force to work as their personal errand boys. The police have much more pressing issues to take care of, rather than tend to these petty issues. And as citizens, we ought to be careful about this.
